Air Conditioner Reviews

evapolar personal air conditioner

Evapolar is listed by its creators as a personal air conditioner, but it’s actually an evaporative cooler or swamp cooler as evaporative coolers are otherwise known. Calling it an air conditioner is definitely a stretch of the imagination.

Evapolar was created by Russian entrepreneurs Eugene Dubovoy and Vladimir Levitin. It’s a new take on evaporative cooling, which has been around for centuries.

Like Noria, this is another crowdfunded project. This one is from Indiegogo instead of Kickstarter. The campaign started in September 2015 and was wholly funded in October 2015. Evapolar should be shipping to the people who supported the project this month.

They have upgraded the evaporative cooler by making it eco-friendly, more powerful and compact. It uses a patented filter made with nanofibers (made from basalt), a refillable water container, and a fan. The water and the filter purify the air, and the fan pushes it out. Their primary goal in creating it was to have a more eco-friendly and energy efficient way to cool off.

You can watch the YouTube video below to get more of an idea of how it works.

The statement below is from the creators of Evapolar from the Indiegogo page. They are very proud of how eco-friendly and energy efficient they have been able to make their product.

The main goal for us was to develop a device that is not just safe to use but absolutely eco-friendly. Evapolar doesn’t need Freon or any other toxic coolant. Our evaporative materials are easily recyclable and don’t deal any harm to the environment. Moreover, we managed to make it totally organic-free, so you don’t need to worry about any bacteria that usually spread in existing evaporative coolers.”

Evapolar Features

Evapolar Features

This would be great if you work if you work in an office that tends to be too warm. Especially if you are not allowed to have an oscillating fan, which until now was really the only option. Evapolar will cool your desk area, but it’s not going to do more than that. It won’t take up much space, and it’s not bad on the eyes.

If you prefer products that are eco-friendly, energy efficient and don’t take up much space, then this product will be to your liking. It was $249.00 at launch, now there is a sale for $179.00, I don’t know how long that will last. You can also buy the filters separately, and they sell a DIY evaporative cooler kit too.

If you are looking for a blast of cold air when you use this, you will be disappointed. It will cool your personal area by purifying and humidifying the air around you, but you won’t feel as cool as if you were in air conditioning.

Evaporative coolers are known to work best in dry climates if you are in a very humid area of the country this probably won’t work well for you. Since it is being manufactured in Russia, you should check what types of plugs they will be using to make sure you will be able to use it.

If space is not a problem, you could buy a full-size evaporative cooler or portable air conditioner for not much more than that.

In Conclusion

If you are the type of person who likes to get their hand on new technology as soon as it comes out, this might be for you. If you work in an office that is always too hot or have a home office with no air conditioning, you might like this too. It’s small, eco-friendly, energy efficient and attractive.

This is definitely for people who put eco-friendly and energy efficiency above air conditioner use. Maybe in the future, since they went well over their $100,000.00 crowdfunding campaign, they will make a room size one.

Ellen Smith

Hi everyone! My name is Ellen and my father has been an air conditioning engineer for about 21 years now. He has trained me for 3 years part-time while I complete my nursing degree. It may be an odd hobby but I love fixing air conditioners, and I made this small blog to share some of my knowledge about them
